Head Coach Matt Tucker is in his eleventh year coaching SF Varsity swimming and started the SF Middle School Team seven years ago. He has swum competitively for over 20 years and is a graduate of Bethany College where he was a four-year varsity swimmer and captain of the team. Coach Matt was also a rescue swimmer for the U.S. Navy.
Over the past thirteen years, his coaching has included positions with various high school and club teams throughout AMS and WPIAL swim leagues.
Assistant Coach Melanie Miller is in her seventh year as Assistant Coach for SF varsity swimming. She swam for Gateway High School where she was a 7 time individual WPIAL Champion and 6 time individual PA State Champion in the 50 & 100 yard freestyle. She received 8 individual All-America honors in high school and ranked #1 in the United States in the 100 yard freestyle as a Junior. Melanie then swam for the University of Florida where she was All SEC all 4 years and finished in the top 5 at SECs in 9 different events including 50 & 100 freestyle, 100 & 200 breaststroke, 100 & 200 butterfly, and the 200, 400, & 800 yard freestyle relays. She was an NCAA Champion as a member of the 4 X 100 yard freestyle relay that set the American Record, US Open Record, and NCAA Record for that event. Coach Melanie also competed internationally as a member of the USA Swimming National Team. She competed in 3 Olympic Trials meets and won Junior Nationals in the 100 meter freestyle. Melanie works as a Regional Manager for a cardiac device company.
Diving/Assistant Coach AJ Mannarino has been coaching swimming and diving for the past four years. He swam and dove competitively for Elizabeth Forward through his high school career and was captain of the team. Coach AJ completed a 21 mile survival swim and actively participates in athletic events such as the Tough Mudder and the Pittsburgh Marathon. AJ also works as the Technology Education Teacher at South Fayette Middle School and is an Assistant Varsity Track Coach.
